What is the USSU?
The University of Surrey Students’ Union is a not-for-profit, student-run organization that represents all University of Surrey students at a local and national level. The union is made up of four zones which provide support, coordinate opportunities, and campaign for students’ best interests. All students are automatically part of the USSU, so we encourage you to take advantage of all the services it offers!
Where are we?
We are situated in the heart of the University grounds, just past Starbucks!
Meet The Sabbs
The Union is split into four zones; Voice, Activity, Support, and Community, and each zone is led by a full time officer that is a Vice-President and Trustee of the Union. Trustees have responsibility for the direction and for overseeing the Students' Union, and the President as the Chair of the Board of Trustees, is line manager to the Vice-Presidents, and the Students' Union's Chief Executive Office (CEO).
Be sure to look out for these guys! They will be around to help you with anything you may need such as helping you move in and getting settled into your room as well as answering any questions you may have. You'll know who they are because of their sunny yellow t-shirts!
Freshers' Fair is the highlight of Freshers' Week and is usually held on the Friday in the huge marquee on PATS field. For the 2017/18 year the fair will be on Friday 28th September starting at midday and finishing around 4pm.
All staff and students are welcome to attend. In attendance at the fair will be all Students' Union sports clubs and societies, University departments, commercial partners, local charities and a selection of food stalls.
Surrey Union has a vibrant scene catering for a diverse range of tastes. Rubix, our 1,550 capacity nightclub hosts regular club nights during term time, complimented by The Basement providing a different offering downstairs. Students are also encouraged to utilise the spaces for their own nights too, giving you even greater variety.
