This is a general guide as to what you may need with you for the club's trip to the South of France! Remember that whilst the weather is generally warmer than in the UK, it does rain and the water in the rivers is snow-melt so is pretty chilly!

The things on this list are your responsibility and it is very important that you get them sorted in plenty of time before the trip. If you are not sure what any of them are or how to get them, please post up in the trip event and more experienced members can help.

  • Travel Insurance (that covers grade 3-4 white water kayaking)
  • Boat Insurance (if you have your own boat)
  • Passport

  • Tent (or a space in someone else's tent – post up in the trip if you want/have tent space)
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Air bed/roll mat
  • Pump for airbed (if needed)
  • Pillow
  • Torch/Head torch
  • Hat/ Neck Warmer
  • Shower Towel
  • Camp Chair (these can be bought very cheaply and will mean you don't have to sit on the floor every evening!)


Paddling Gear

  • Rash Vest
  • Thermal Top x2
  • Thermal Bottom x2
  • Fleece Top/s
  • Thick Socks
  • River Shoes
  • Dry suit/Cag/Wetsuit (if you own one – if not you can borrow a wetsuit from the club)
  • Shorts/Neo strides/Dry trousers (if you own one – if not you can borrow a wetsuit from the club)
  • Dry Bag (A bin bag will do if you don't have one)
  • Water bottle
  • River/Beach Towel
  • Nose Clip (If you want to use one)
  • Camera/Go Pro (If you want to bring it – at your own risk)

The weather is usually warmer than the UK but it does rain so make sure you have appropriate clothing and enough clean/dry clothes for the week. We usually socialise on the campsite so there is no need for fancy clothes!

We usually go to the local supermarket every day so you don't need food for the week, just enough to keep you going on the way down as service stations tend not to have many options in the middle of the night.

  • Cooker (the club will have cookers but do bring your own if you have one)
  • Pans (the club will bring some pans but if you have a big pan it would be helpful)
