Logging Volunteering Hours
As a Course Rep, you form part of the group of Students' Union volunteers. You can therefore log your hours on Surrey Volunteering - the Union's new volunteering platform.
Logging your hours will help you to demonstrate that you've got experience in core skills like leadership and negotiation to potential employers or placement providers. Click here to get started.
Here's how to do it.
You will first need to create a Surrey Volunteering profile if you haven't already.
When you log hours, please select "University of Surrey Students' Union" as your volunteering opportunity and "Course Rep" as the volunteering role.
Then provide these details (Hannah Jones, Hannah.email@example.com) to allow us to approve your hours.
You can log any time that you spend on your core Course Rep responsibilities which are:
- Time spent in departmental meetings (Staff-Student Liaison Committees and Boards of Studies)
- Attendance at Student Voice Forums and Student Faculty Forums
- Attendance at Course Rep training
- Time spent in informal meetings with University staff about course issues (eg. with your Course Leader or Head of Department)
- Time spent gathering student feedback (eg. posting on facebook, sending emails out)
Course Rep Awards
Every year, we will give out Course Rep Awards to those who have gone above and beyond in their role as a Rep. These include Awards that you can nominate yourself for, and ones that we will decide in the Voice Zone.
You can also be eligible to win Course Rep of the Month by filling in a Course Rep Update Form here. The winner will receive a £30 Amazon gift voucher for their efforts!
You can find out more about the types of Awards for Course Reps by visiting our Awards page here.
