Advice appointments and drop-in
We offer a free, confidential and independent advice and support service for University of Surrey students. Our trained and experienced caseworkers can give advice about:
- Academic appeals
- Academic misconduct
- Complaints about the University
- Extenuating circumstances
- Disciplinary matters
- Fitness to Practice Procedures
- Fitness to Study Procedures
We are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday although appointments may be possible before or after these normal opening hours if you contact us well in advance. You can book an appointment in person at our reception, by calling 01483 689223 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org We recommend you do book in advance, as we cannot guarantee to be available if you drop in without an appointment - please see below for details of what to do if you are not able to book in advance.
Your initial appointment will be for half an hour and the caseworker you see will be able to book further, longer appointments if necessary.
When you come to your appointment it is essential that you bring with you any emails or documents that are relevant to the issue you would like to discuss.
If you are coming in for a booked appointment please make sure you are on time - late starts to appointments impact on other students who may be booked in after you. Please also try and let us know if you are not able to make a booked appointment, so that we can offer the time to someone else. Students who are repeatedly late or who do not attend booked appointments will receive a warning and we may stop booking appointments for you.
We understand that busy timetables and other commitments can make it difficult for some students to book in advance. In these situations we are happy to see people who do not have an appointment BUT please note we can see people on drop-in only if the time is free in our diary. If we are already booked to see other people you will be asked to book an appointment or return when an advisor is available.
Drop-in sessions are 15 minutes maximum. For a more in-depth appointment, you will need to make a separate booking. Please contact reception at Ussu.Information@surrey.ac.uk
What to bring with you to your drop-in appointment or booked appointment
You will need to bring any relevant pieces of information, correspondence from the University, or evidence that relates to your case.
