Hi! I'm Bethany, a placement year Politics and Sociology student, and this is my second year on the Support Zone. I'm really passionate about the services that are available to students here at Surrey, and I've worked really hard over the past year on improving these services: here's to another year of working on it! I'm here to work with the team to help students on all areas of support, from accessibility to EC policy, to provisions for religious students, to sexual health awareness. If I'm not working on placement or in the Union, you'd probably find me writing for Incite Magazine (the Politics Society magazine, for which I'm the Opinions Editor!), hanging out with my dog, or working for BVisible, the non-profit organization I co-founded for people with Invisible Illnesses.
I'm really excited to work with Sarah and the team this year, feel free to email me over at email@example.com if you want to chat about anything!
I will continue the Welfare Watch, a new volunteering opportunity set upby the current support zone, providing support and assistance for fellow students in potentially vulnerable states. I will also continue discussions with the Security team to tackle major on-campus issues such as Sexual Assaults
to extend provisions for student protection.
By working with the Liberation Reps, continuing to work on accessibility, furthering ALS provisions, supporting international students, and working to create an inclusive curriculum, I will make an equal campus, ne that fits all students.
Awareness and Understanding
Many issues that students face on campus, from disability, to mental health issues, problems with gender identity and more, are poorly understood. Not only do I want to make informative videos on these topics, but also arrange and hold discussions and support groups to continue and widen these conversations.
