Community Events VolunteerSurrey PoliceGuildford

Would you like a flexible volunteering opportunity which allows you to engage with local communities on behalf of Surrey Police?
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals from each of our eleven boroughs to join our Community Events Team who represent Surrey Police at events across the county.

As a Community Events Team Volunteer you will work as part of a dedicated team to make valuable connections with the public and increase their awareness of Surrey Police. You will be able to offer relevant Force and local-level messages, security and personal safety advice as well as information about the different volunteering opportunities within Surrey Police.

You would be able to choose the amount of commitment to suit your circumstances as community events are held throughout the year, with the spring and summer months being the busiest times.

The key tasks which will be carried out by Community Events Team Volunteers are:
- Delivering key Force/local-level messages and other information
- Engaging with members of the public including children through activities such as fingerprinting and trying on police uniform
- Liaising with event organisers (e.g. to identify locations of tents for information, lost children and first aid)
- Helping to set-up and pack-down the stand and associated equipment

Your enthusiasm and commitment will help you to integrate into the team and work alongside others to support community events. You will need to be able to engage confidently with members of the public (adults and children) and will be required to wear a Police Support Volunteer uniform.

Previous experience of volunteering, community engagement and/or working within police environment would be beneficial, but this is not essential as you will be fully supported by experienced members of the Community Events Team.

Events VolunteerShooting Star Chase Guildford

Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

We know that it is not always possible to commit to volunteering on a regular basis, so volunteering at events is a great way to be able to help at a time that suits you.

We have lots of events throughout the year that, without our volunteers, would not be possible.

The opportunities available for volunteering at events include:

• Helping to run a stall at a summer fete
• Serving refreshments at an event
• Marshalling at sporting events
• Cheering on our runners & cyclists at challenge events

Bring your friends and family along too. Helping at events can be a great fun way to spend time together, while supporting your local children’s hospice charity.
