Student Parliament - 3rd December 2009
Student Parliament allows you to have your voice heard in your Students' Union. If you want to change Union policy, or introduce new policies, Student Parliament is the place to make this happen.

These are the motions for the next Student Parliament:
Motion to improve effectiveness of part time executive officers
If you have opinions about any of these motions, make sure you come to Student Parliament. If you agree with what they are proposing - come and make sure the motion goes through. If you disagree, you need to make sure you come to Student Parliament to stop it.
If there is an element of Union policy you wish to change, or a policy you wish to introduce, you need to submit a motion. Any student can write a motion and take it to Parliament. Motions must be submitted to ussu.information@surrey.ac.uk .
This is how you write a motion:
Motions have 3 sections:
This Union notes – the facts of the situation
This Union believes – the proposed view of the Union
This Union resolves – the proposed action to be taken
Each motion must have a proposer and a seconder to be valid. If your motion is ratified at Student Parliament, it becomes Union Policy, and the responsibility of the Union’s Sabbatical officers to take action or change things. Getting a ‘sponsor’ for your motion in the Union’s Executive team is a great way to get support for your motion. Make sure you are communicating your intentions to people on your course or people you live with, and bring support with you to Student Parliament.
