► Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a martial art originating in Korea. An amalgamation of Chinese, Japanese, and traditional Korean fighting styles, it has become the world’s most commonly practiced martial art. As with many other martial arts, taekwondo is a combination of combat technique, self-defence, sport, exercise, entertainment, and philosophy.
There are two forms of Taekwondo practised.
- WTF (WorldTaekwondo Federation)
- ITF (International Taekwondo Federation)
The difference between ITF and WTF:
ITF is the more traditioinal style whereas WTF emphasis more on sparring, and is the type of Taekwondo appearing in the Olympics.
Training Times
The training sessions are in the Sports Centre at:
- Monday 8 - 10pm
- Wednesday 6 - 8pm
- Friday afternoons (depending on availability of the instructors)
