► Coaching

Beginners coaching

Do you:

- Not know one end of the racket from the other?- Want to meet some new people to improve with?- Want to try a different way of getting fit?

Then give beginners coaching a try! We provide your equipment (balls rackets etc.) just turn up in pair of non marking trainers and prepare to have some fun!

When where and who:

Wednesday’s at 5pm – At the sports centreSessions taken by Unisport instructor and qualified squash coach Kirstie Thompson.

Team coaching

Have you:

- Played squash before?- Want to represent the University?- Committed to improving?

Then we want to see you…we value commitment over ability simply because you’d be amazed how good anyone can get when they really set their mind to it!

Having secured a substantial training budget from the Students Union for the 2007/2008 season, we are now able to offer FREE coaching with elite coach Ian Robinson.

An ex top 20 ranked player, Ian is now one of a handful of England Squash level 4 coaches in the Uk. He spends most of his time training nationally ranked juniors and team UniSport, our local PSL (professional squash league) team! We’re very privileged to have access to his coaching services

During team coaching you’ll:

Develop the consistency necessary to take your game to the next levelGet you in contact with competitive players for some classic matches!Teach you some winning tactics and techniquesAnd of course...Improve fitness.

Becoming a coach

Are you enthusiastic about passing on your experiences and increase your employability?

Over the course of the year opportunities often arise for students to complete a Level 1 England squash coaching course subsidised by the students union. Places on these coaching courses are highly sought after and the course itself is a prerequisite to any further coaching qualifications you may wish to undertake.

On qualifying you’ll have various options available to you coaching Students, Junior’s and Adults…and best of all…you’ll never have to take bar work ever again!

If you’re interested, contact the committee. To qualify you will have shown or be prepared to show significant commitment to Squash at Surrey during your time at university.
