The Postgraduate Association (PGA) consists of a mixture of both taught and research students from a multiple of disciplines throughout the University. This mixture and close involvement with many different subject areas allows the PGA to be closely involved with the matters that affect fellow postgraduate students on a day to day basis.
In comparison to undergraduate life, postgraduate life is definitely different but that is not to say that it is not as enjoyable or rewarding. Every single facility, experience, event and opportunity that is available to undergraduates is also available to postgraduates, and with a postgraduate population over 50%, it is easy to see that you will not be joining a minority.
With such a large postgraduate population, there is a large scope for social and recreational events. To date the PGA has successfully organised events, ranging from a simple bar quiz to a London theatre trip and as a committee run by students for students. The the union is open to suggestions and support PGA that encourage interaction on many levels.
We also welcome mature students and staff members to join the events and activites of PGA.
· Ensure adequate induction program's are provided for new postgraduate students.
· To promote social and recreational activities for postgraduate students.
· Continue to encourage USSU to provide facilities and amenities for postgraduate students alongside undergraduate students
· Supply representatives as may be necessary to sit on appropriate University and Union committees.
· Liaise closely with the National Postgraduate Committee (NPC) and to represent the interests of postgraduate students at a national level.
