► Information for New Members

If you're starting at Surrey this coming year, chances are you are feeling both nervous and excited. Exploring the society's web site should provide you with most of the useful information you need, but we've created this section to address some things you might want to know!

Freshers' Fayre 2009:
Each year the society has its own stall at Freshers' Fayre, usually held on the NatWest field (opposite the on-campus NatWest bank) in a marquee. This is your first opportunity to meet us, have a chat and pick up some information. As ever, we'll try out best to stay right until the end in case any of you feel more comfortable approaching the stall during a quieter part of the afternoon.

'The scene':
Whilst Guildford does not boast the bustling packed city night life of Manchester, Brighton or London several local gay (or gay-friendly) nights exist, such as the monthly Scrumptious held at Flares and Scrumptious Bar. Most importantly, of course, is Tease - the Union's very own gay night, held in Rubix on the first Saturday of every month. It is worth mentioning however that London Waterloo is only a 30-minute train journey away from Guildford Rail Station.

Worried about coming along to a meeting?
If you've got reservations about coming along to one of our meetings, please feel free to request a meeting with two of our committee members. Two of our committee members will meet you for a quick, 15-minute chat and will be available to answer any of your questions you may have about the society.
