For glider pilots the biggest obstacle to contend with is the weather. In most conditions gliding is fine, however rain, fog, and wind can all ground gliders. It is usually a good idea to have a look at the weather forecast before setting off on the long journey to Lasham. For a full forecast please visit one of the following:
Metcheck is one of the best weather forecasting sites around. It gives a proper aviation forecast for Lasham over the next 24hrs. A more standard forecast for alton is available here.
Lasham's own weather site. Live weather data and a webcam are available - useful for deciding on the day. You can also sign up for daily soaring forecasts.
BBC's weather forecast for Alton. This site gives a good estimate of the day. However only one forecast is done for the whole day, meaning that the afternoon for example could be excellent for gliding, but the mornings forecast may be shown.
Please note most forecasts are very innacurate, so don't write a day off just because of the forecast. Also do not rely on long range forecasts as these can change dramatically over the following days.
