The University of Surrey Cricket Club

 

We welcome players of any standard and ability and are one of the most culturally diverse clubs at the University. The Cricket Club at the University of Surrey strives itself to make cricket fun and exciting for all people of any ability who wish to join the club. The Club also offers an exciting and lively social life throughout the year by arranging a variety of club social events.

 

The club is still relatively young and has only been a functioning club at the University for less than ten years.

 

We run two teams in the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sports) leagues with the 1st XI currently playing in South East 3b and the 2nd XI playing in South East 5b. BUCS matches commence after Easter and run all the way through to the end of term on every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon with home matches being played at the Surrey Sports Park. Including cup matches and friendlies each XI plays approximately twelve matches throughout the University cricket season. We also enter the BUCS Indoor 6 a side competition where the 1st team reached the last 8 in Britain two years ago! We also run an indoor cricket tournament for all members throughout the winter in the gym.

 

Throughout the winter we have weekly training sessions on Sunday evenings, commencing at 5.30 and ending at 7.30, playing equipment can be borrowed however, you are required to provide your own ‘box’ if you wish to bat.

 

We have good links with local cricket clubs with members of the 1st XI playing for Guildford CC, Horsley & Send CC & Brook CC. During the winter squad members have the opportunity to train with and use Horsley & Send CC facilities. Training moves from the sports park to either outdoor facilities at Guildford CC or Horsley & Send CC on a Monday evening when the outdoor season commences around Easter.
