STUDENT ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR
Maternity cover for up to 9 months
£20,729 p.a. (pro rata)
The Students' Union is recruiting for a full time Student Activities Coordinator as maternity cover for up to 9 months commencing April 2015. The role will be responsible for support and coordination providing assistance and guidance to the relevant Students' Union officers, in particular VP Societies & ID. The role will include administration, organising a programme of trips and activities and be the prime organiser for annual events including Fresher's Fayre and Student Awards. We are looking for a candidate who can display:
- The ability to be proactive and approachable
- The ability to deal face to face with a variety of different people on a day to day basis
- Good administrative skills
- A team player with a flexible attitude toward work
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good time management and prioritising skills

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT (placement)
£15.000 p.a. (starting in August 2015)
The Students' Union is offering a fantastic opportunity for a one year placement starting in August 2015 to get involved with our on line communication system. You will be working for an organisation where staff opinions are valued and listened to plus receive excellent experience and training opportunities.
We constantly need to ensure we are communicating effectively with our 15,000 strong membership and the most successful and popular methods are on line – Facebook, Twitter, Union website. We need our communication to be clear, articulate, creative and offering the best possible service to our members.
The Digital Communications Assistant will be responsible for responding to online enquiries and coordinating the Union's messages across multiple communication platforms. It is important these are prioritized and kept up to date. It will be the Digital Communication Assistant's role to create the listings for all our events, manage our events VIP and guest lists and ensure the content of our Events Planner is collated and sent to the appropriate designers and printers. The postholder will also be responsible for coordinating, editing and planning the Union's weekly newsletter, which is sent out to our audience of 15,000 students as well as members of University and Union staff. The role will also be responsible for helping to source content and provide editorial support.
We need the following skills:
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- Flexible attitude to work
- Team player
- Ability to organize workload and manage multiple social media accounts
- Experience of writing articles
