How to join a Sports Club

So you want to join a Club?
 

There are 3 Basic Steps:

  1. Get a SSP Student Membership or a Sports Pass (Sign up at the Surrey Sports Park)
  2. Pay for your Team Surrey club fee per club (Sign up at the Surrey Sports Park)
  3. Be part of the club and enjoy yourself for the rest of the year

Please Note: These apply to all of our clubs apart for these exceptional clubs: Ballroom & Latin Dance, Cycling, Gliding, Karate, Ice Hockey, Skydiving, Surf & Wakeboard, Sub-Aqua. For these clubs click here.

Also Note: These From Jan 2012 there are 6 month SSP Student Membership (£105) and
Team Surrey Sports Pass (£55) options.

Step 1 - There are two types of Membership you can get to be elegible to join a club ​

​​​​Surrey Sports ​​​Park Student Membership - £195 for the year ​Sports Pass - £95 for the year
​For those who wish to use the gym and all of the other SSP facilities in your own time as well as being part of a club. Some of you might already have an SSP Membership so you can go straight to step 2. For those who only want to participate in thier own sports clubs (i.e. training & competing)  and not use the Sports Park facilities in their own time. This helps to cover the facility usage for your club either at SSP or at another facility.
Where & How? Either membership can be optained at the Surrey Sport Park reception, just ask for either the Student Membership or Sports Pass

Step 2 - The Team Surrey Club Joining Fee

Club Joining Fee - £10 per club
This is required in order to officially be registered as the member of the clubs to have chosen. This ensures that you are on our books and elegible for any competition subsidies, training and to recieve a Colours Award.​ This goes towards your club's funding through Team Surrey,
Where & How?This can be obtained at the Surrey Sports Park reception, just tell them which club you wish to join.

 

Step 3 - Clubs committees may choose to have an Internal Club Fee

Internal Club Fee - Free to Various
The reason for these fees tend to be for the committtee to raise money for the club to operate through the year. Speak to your committee to find out where their fees go.
Where & How? Speak to the Club's Committee as processes vary
 

*These may not apply to students who are invovled only in the society and one-off social activities of the sports club. 

 

Exceptional Clubs

If you are joining Ballroom & Latin Dance, Cycling, Dance (Jazz/Modern), Gliding, Karate, Ice Hockey, Skydiving, Surf & Wakeboard, Sub-Aqua this is your proceedure:

  1. Pay the club joining fee (£10​) to your club + any other clubs costs
  2. Be part of the club and enjoy yourself for the rest of the year
